Dieses ist vom Simplex facere („tun, machen“) durch Zusammensetzung mit der Vorsilbe per- und Ablautung entstanden. Die Vorsilbe gibt dem lateinischen Verb unter anderem einen abschließenden Aspekt im Sinn von „fertig machen“, „vollenden“. In dieser Bedeutung wird das Adjektiv perfekt (fast immer mit positiv wertender Konnotation) im Sinne von „vollendet“, „vollkommen“ gebraucht, wobei nach heutigem Sprachverständnis kein Verursacher („Vollender“) des Werkes, dem das Attribut zugeschrieben wird, mit gedacht werden muss. So können im Deutschen auch Zufallsprodukte perfekt sein.”
