lemon:value deuIm Jahr 1860 fand Hermann von Meyer im Solnhofener Plattenkalk eine versteinerte Feder, die er „Archaeopteryx lithographica“ (alter Flügel aus dem lithografischen Kalkstein) taufte. 1862 fanden Bauarbeiter im gleichen Steinbruch das erste vollständige Skelett des zugehörigen Urvogels. Diese Art des Urvogels erhielt daraufhin den Namen Archaeopteryx lithographica zu altgriechisch: ἀρχαῖος (archaios, deutsch: uralt) und πτερυξ (pteryx, deutsch: der Flügel, die Feder, die Schwinge); sinngemäße Übersetzung: „alte Feder“ oder „alter Flügel“
