lemon:value deuBalzers wurde erstmals 842 als Palazoles erwähnt. In der Folge entwickelten sich verschiedene andere Schreibweisen wie Balzols, Balters, Baltzers, Balsers oder Balthers. Palazoles ist entweder vom lateinischen (Pfalz, Residenz) oder vom lateinischen (kleine Pfalz) abgeleitet. Die Bezeichnung des Ortes als Pfalz könnte darin begründet sein, dass Balzers eine Art Zwischenstation zwischen Bregenz und Chur war, wo die Kaiser, die nach Italien wollten, Rast machten.
