Jahrhundert die jetzige Form Eschen. Es wird vermutet, dass der Ortsname genau wie Schaan auf das keltische Wort esca (am Wasser gelegen) zurückgeht. Mit dem Wasser wäre wahrscheinlich der Bach Esche gemeint, der in Eschen fließt.
